Arboricultural Information Exchange : Introduction

  • The AIE is dedicated to sharing information and news relating to arboricultural issues. It is primarily intended for use by arboriculturists who may need to quickly source information on a given subject. Much of the information, such as legislation, is currently UK based only.

  • It is requested that fellow arboriculturists send in any news and information that they consider of use to other users. Such information could be a book, leaflet, web site link, new legislation or news. It is hoped that the continual updating of this site will produce a useful, comprehensive database of up to date arboricultural information.

  • If you have written a paper or article which you would like to share with others through the AIE, please send details.

  • Many links within this site extend to pages located within other sites. Occasionally, pages within external sites are deleted which in turn causes any links pointing to them to become inoperative.

  • Please feel free to make a link from your own website to the AIE. There is no need to request permission to do so.

  • Any comments and observations are most welcome.

  • We are unable to carry out individual research or source specific material, etc. If the information is not present within this site then we probably do not have it available to share.

The AIE was created by Chris Skellern and is currently managed by both Chris Skellern and Ian Monger.

Chris Skellern

Chris Skellern obtained the ‘National Certificate in Arboriculture’ at Sparsholt College (Winchester). Upon leaving college he started his own business as a climbing tree surgeon and soon had two employees. However, consultancy work soon beckoned and he later completed the AA Technicians certificate. He now offers tree surveys and related services to a small select number of clients. His experience in computer programming has enabled him to produce specialist software for the arboricultural industry.

Ian Monger

Ian Monger has obtained two degrees; the first was in Environmental Science back in 1993 at Greenwich University in London, and the second was a Masters degree in Politics at the University of the West of England in Bristol in 2000. He has more recently completed a City & Guilds Arboricultural course at Cannington College (Somerset), which left him with the appropriate NPTC certificates to become a climbing arborist. He joined a local Arboricultural company in Bristol. He is currently studying towards the AA Technicians Certificate. He  has various useful skills in report writing, managing websites and graphic design.
