The following picture shows a close up of a single bracket. Much of the dark edges on the underside are caused by my handling.

This following picture shows how the soft underside reacts to bruising. The large round dark mark on the lowest section of the fungus is as a reaction to my thumb press! This is apparently one method of assisting with the identification of this fungus. However, the bruised mark took a few minutes to appear, so don't expect instant results.
