Ripple bench
By Artist Roger Day

Ripple bench background
The timber is from a large Oak on Earlswood Common in the Borough of Reigate & Banstead, Surrey. It was brought down by high winds in January 2007. It now resides at the pond on the junction of Woodhatch road & Pendleton road which approximately 200m away from where it fell.
The artist Roger Day had previously been commissioned by a local councillor to make some benches for a local school from storm damaged timber (pictures of this are also on Rogers website). This piece was excess material from that project.
The Ripple bench was inspired by the pond it is now installed by and replaced a rotten wooden conventional bench.
