Swedish Fid.
A useful tool to assist in the splicing of difficult ropes.
This type of fid is constructed from a curved metal blade with a wooden handle.
The blade is pushed through the laid strand of a rope and is used to hold open the coil while a splicing strand is inserted along the blade and through the rope.
